A Year In A Bottle From Daily Sip

Today we bid farewell to 2011 by looking back on all the delicious and curious wines we consumed during the past year. We sipped, savored and guzzled a wide variety of vinos so, of course, we each had to ask ourselves which one was the best--the one that left the ultimate lasting impression.

After much deliberation, Team Daily Sip brings you the best wines each of us tasted in 2011. Some--but not all--of these bottles come with hefty price tags, but we stand by our conviction that these wines are worth every penny since they stood out as the most memorable. Here's to 2012!

    Alyssa
Donnhoff Riesling 2010 (Nahe, Germany) $20. Sometimes the most memorable wines don't break the bank. Such was the case this past Friday and this past year; Donnhoff riesling once again stole the show in a line-up of beautiful wines of all types, from many regions, at The French Laundry for my brother's 40th birthday celebration. Meyer lemon overtones were perfectly balanced by racy acidity and floral aromatics. It was delicious! Find it here.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Andy
Clos des Papes Blanc 2009 (Rhone, France) $112. The CDP reds typically get most of the attention, but this gem from Clos des Papes stands out. Number 10 on Wine Spectator's Top 100 list for 2010. Made with no oak and no malolactic fermentation, the wine appears very light, almost like water. Crisp with tropical fruit notes along with peach and lychee. Elegant wine with a complex finish. If I were going to spring for a nice bottle of white, this would be it. Find it here.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Kim
Volta Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 (Howell Mountain, CA) $60. This is a stellar, mind-blowing wine worth far more than its $60 price tag. Big in flavor, but still smooth and elegant, with black cherry, plum and raspberry flavors. It has a perfect balance of acid and tannin that will ensure it ages well, however, it's awfully good now, too. Only 300 cases were made, so be sure to grab a bottle before it's gone! You can find it here.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Leta
Paul Dolan Pinot Noir 2007 (Mendocino County, CA) $30. This is far and away my favorite wine of the year because I associate it with so many amazing 2011 memories. It was my choice of wine for toasting my girls before Giants' games in San Francisco on playgrounds, my go-to wine after any trying day of the office, and my favorite bottle to gift. Did I mention it's great to geek out on when you're talking about the amazing production of Mendocino and the philosophy behind biodynamic winemaking? It's delicious, affordable and a wine that's meant to be shared and opened often. Find the wine here.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Michelle
Brooks Sweet P Riesling 2010 (Willamette Valley) $22.
I had the privilege of tasting this delicious Riesling when Janie Brooks herself came into our office for a private tasting. I was blown away by this delicious and not too sweet light gold wine and have been dreaming of it ever since. It had all of the crisp flavors I have come to love in Rieslings but did not contain an ounce of syrupiness. At a price point of $22 a bottle it is a great value. Find the wine here.

  • Bathroom Renovation

    Bathroom Renovations:

Remember, your possessions are valuable, storing them, even temporarily while work is being done is piece of mind. Contact STORE Self Storage & Wine Storage for ideas, quotes, options and stressless storage in a state-of-the-art facility.

    Extraordinary Storage at Ordinary Prices.

    1. -Don’t do expensive tub/shower renovations.  Just like with the big-ticket kitchen fixes, this is a matter of taste.  You put in a round jetted tub, and the buyer prefers square.  And is a steam shower really something everyone will love?
    2. -Do replace dated bath and shower fixtures; this can be done generally quite inexpensively. If you have a tiny showerhead, replacing it with a large, rainwater-style model will lend a subtle spa-like quality without costing a lot.
    3. -Don’t replace your smallish vanity with a new, built-in model. A lot of remodelers emphasize the intrinsically relaxing qualities of having all your toiletries, and towels beautifully organized in one big unit made of high-end wood, marble and chrome. And it is certainly beautiful. But it’s also a risky choice, and a matter of taste.
    4. -Do freshen up the vanity area. Invest in a big mirror with bright lights over it. And a few hundred dollars spent on a nice faucet is well worth it. Like the showerhead, it’s a true basic—and updating the basics, in most homes is all the home seller should be focusing on.

Properly STORE your belongings while your home is being renovated. Contact STORE Self Storage & Wine Storage at 561-627-8444 or online at www.storeselfstorage.com

    1. -Don’t put in expensive professional-grade cook’s appliances. You may choose a $10,000 Wolf stove, but the potential buyer might be a take-out addict.
    2. - Do,   however, service the appliances you have, so that they work perfectly. If you have seriously outdated appliances that can be replaced for $1,000 or less (like swapping a dingy old fridge for a new one), that’s a good idea. Similarly, if there are appliances that you lack, which most buyers consider essential, it makes sense to buy one (like a dishwasher).
    3. - Don’t   replace your cabinetry entirely—even if it’s a little outdated. It’s just too subjective. You might think sleek, white Scandinavian cabinets are the way to go, but your potential buyer may prefer dark wood.
    4. - Do   invest in cabinet refacing if your cabinets are outdated. Many refacing companies will give your cabinets a fresh façade for under $2,000, and it’s a good investment in creating a positive impression of the room without doing a pricey knock-down.
    5. - Don’t   go granite crazy. Spending thousands of dollars on a new countertop and backsplash is downright dangerous; as there are so many different options these days, it’s impossible for the home seller to find one that will please most people.
    6. - Do   hire a professional cleaning company to come in and make what you have sparkle. This won’t magically make your tile look magazine-spread-worthy, it will certainly make it look a lot better. Discoloration from age often makes tile look even worse.

6 Social Media Don’ts to Consider

Writing by Brick Marketing in Social Media

Social media has become a huge part of internet marketing. Any marketing guru will tell you that you need to get involved in social media. They’ll tell you everything that you need to do in order to succeed- but what about the things that you shouldn’t do? Here’s a list to get you started:

    1.) Don’t Avoid It
There’s really no longer any excuse to not be involved in social media. No matter what industry you are in or who your target audience is, there is a place for you in social media. Millions of people use Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Google+. There’s a 100% chance that at least some of those millions are interested in the products or services that you provide.

    Find more tips at: http://www.brickmarketing.com/blog/social-media-donts.htm

  • Social Media 1 - Don't be afraid

In Social Media, don’t be afraid to over-share Share everything, on different channels! Everything that might interest your targets, such as pictures of the office, live tweets during an event, videos, articles and live streaming. It’s not the same as advertisements, people don’t get annoyed by your interesting/ valuable content about the brand.

  • Successful Strategic Alliances

    Successful Strategic Alliances

by David Dixon, UMC Area Director

Are there business benefits to being a good community citizen? YES. By supporting other local businesses, alliances are formed that create flexibility and camaraderie for planning events, utilizing services, and purchasing products.

STORE’s weekly greenmarket has proven this. Florida summers leave residents lacking any sort of outdoor market for several months. By choosing to address the need of its community, STORE has helped support local vendors during our lean summer months, made new friends and alliances, and raised the profile of our unique facility.

For the last three years, once a month STORE hosts a morning business networking event, Networking in the Gardens. Countless partnerships, business opportunities, and friendships have resulted from an hour and half one morning a month. Numerous restaurants in PGA Commons, like Prosecco Café and Spoto’s Oyster Bar, now cater (and often donate) to our events, realtors and apartment managers can assist their clients in finding safer storage options, and STORE even found its new website designer, Blue Wave Design, from it! For local businesses, word of mouth is really what it’s all about.

If you are a local supplier or business owner, we want to hear from you. STORE Self Storage is locally owned, locally operated, and right in your neighborhood. Stop by for a personal tour of our award-winning facility or contact our staff about joining our local group. We’d love to have you.

Madelyn was busy feeding the excited Yard Sale vendors. Breakfast was served along with a nice gift certificate for PGA Commons. Everyone had their work cut out for them while we all waited for the 450 shoppers to flood our doors. People were lined up for almost an hour before the doors opened.
